How to Obtain a Fire License in Bangladesh

A Fire License is essential for all factories in Bangladesh under the Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Act, 2003. The Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) is responsible for issuing this license, which ensures compliance with fire safety regulations to prevent and reduce fire-related damages.

Required Documents for Obtaining a Fire License

To apply for a Fire License, the following documents are necessary:

  1. Duly filled-in prescribed application form
  2. Trade License
  3. Yearly Valuation Certificate from the relevant City Corporation or Municipality’s zonal office
  4. Deed of Agreement and receipt of rent
  5. Layout of the establishment, authorized by RAJUK or the relevant City Corporation or municipality’s zonal office
  6. Certificate of Incorporation and Memorandum of Association
  7. No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local representative
  8. Clearance certificate from the FSCD office
  9. Additional form (if applicable for garment factories)
  10. Treasury Challan or Demand Note

Procedure to Obtain a Fire License

Submit the application:

  • Fill out the application form and submit it to the FSCD office with the required documents.

FSCD inspection:

  • The FSCD authority will visit the establishment to inspect fire safety measures and verify compliance with the regulations.

Pay the fee:

  • After the inspection, the FSCD will issue a demand note for the prescribed fee.
  • Pay the fee to the designated bank.

Submit payment proof:

  • Provide the bank receipt slip to the FSCD office.

Re-inspection:

  • An FSCD inspector will re-inspect the establishment.

Fire License issuance:

  • If the establishment meets the fire safety standards, the FSCD will issue the Fire License.

Government Fee Schedule and Renewal

  • The fire license fee varies based on the type of factory and the assessment conducted by the FSCD officer.
  • Renewal: The fire license needs to be renewed annually. Applicants must visit the FSCD office for renewal.
